its a hype..just like y2k bug...same thing happened in 1999, 2000 and 2001 ...
we will continue floating in our mediocracy forever..which is a lot worse..
the "end" is perpetual thing, and its gonna take a while..

Sometimes i wonder what would happen if we were lucky enough to actually see the end of the world..
